The wound care profession is mourning the loss of two shining lights in our community – Pam Morey and Greg Schultz, both sadly passing away in recent months. Both Pam and Greg were involved in Wound Practice and Research and were strong advocates of the journal. Pam’s contributions to the profession are presented by Keryln Carville who has written a Vale piece in this edition. Greg Schultz was a member of our editorial board and universally considered to be a pioneer in the wound biofilm space, revolutionising the way we think about biofilm. Both of these amazing people will be sorely missed by us all.

This bumper edition of Wound Practice and Research contains the much-anticipated assessment, management and prevention of acute wounds in the Australian context scoping review by Kathy Finalyson and colleagues. This work compliments the chronic wound review which was published earlier in the year. Together these pieces of work present the current national landscape on wound care research. As always the journal contains an eclectic mix of research, including two papers on pressure injury prevention, one on pulsed electromagnetic field therapy on wound healing, a narrative review on topical phenytoin for wound healing and a WHAM evidence summary for electrical stimulation for wound related pain. We sincerely hope you enjoy the issue and looking forward to seeing you all at the upcoming Wounds Australia 2024 conference on the Gold Coast.
