Hello AVAS members,

I write to you from my home, locked in with travel-associated quarantine, symptom-free with a heavy heart for these difficult and trying times. I find it hard to focus on anything other than the pandemic that has gripped our planet. But, life will and does still go on and I am sure, as are you, that we can find comfort and distraction in our work.

To say SARS-CoV-2 has caused life-threatening disruption to our lifestyle is a profound understatement. As governments try to get control of this beast and all of its fall out, we find that the liberties that we have for so long enjoyed and taken for granted are being removed and the activities such as conference attendance no longer possible, at least for the foreseeable future. Many healthcare professional meetings scheduled for the year have been postponed. Conferences such as Intravenous Nurses New Zealand (IVNNZ) in Christchurch, World Congress on Vascular Access (WoCoVA) Athens, Coda Melbourne have become victims of the insidious pathogen. But, remember these events have only been postponed, keep an eye out for their revisited dates and support them when this current crisis is behind us.

Please, enjoy the current edition of Vascular Access.

Stay safe, take good care of yourself, your family, friends and your fellow humans.

Kind regards,

Mark
