Welcome to the latest issue of Vascular Access!

We have received a range of excellent contributions to the journal this month, including a study protocol of an upcoming randomised controlled trial comparing two kinds of peripherally inserted central catheters, an observational study of nurses’ intravenous flushing and medication practices, an educational article about biofilm formation, and an evaluation of the cost savings of a clinical practice change. A diverse selection indeed.

In this issue, we feature a focus on vascular access services in Australia. Many thanks to those who submitted a piece about their service. I’m sure readers will be interested to learn about their colleagues and find out what services other sites are providing. If you would like to contribute to the journal by writing about your own service, we would be pleased to publish it. Don’t forget to send a photo!

Did you know that the journal web page also has an Exhibition Hall where we can upload educational videos and other media? Please contact us if you are interested in contributing to this exciting feature.

The second AVAS ASM is just around the corner, and I look forward to seeing many of you in Perth. This AVAS ASM is a joint event with an added day of WoCoVA presentations, which promises to be a unique and stimulating conference experience. We are proud to welcome some fabulous national and international speakers and hear their insights on our specialty. Warm congratulations to everyone who has had an abstract accepted and good luck with your presentations. Conference abstracts will be published in the October edition of Vascular Access.

As we build up this journal, I welcome your contributions and suggestions for articles and creative ideas on how to increase our readership. Feel free to email me at any time.

Best wishes,

Gillian
